These azulejos date from the second half of the 19th Century. During this period the azulejo went through a re-birth, having suffered a great deal from the French invasions, the departure of the royal family to Brazil, and the civil war. The new confidence of the bourgeoisie generated demand for tiles and numerous new factories opened in Lisboa and Porto. These tiles are from a Lisboa factory.
